Bush’s commander in the Mideast resigns

Admiral William Fallon, the US military commander in the Middle East, abruptly resigned on Tuesday following the publication of a magazine article that appeared to pit him against President George W. Bush.

The article in Esquire magazine portrayed Adm Fallon as an outspoken military officer who was “brazenly challenging his commander in chief” on Iran policy.
