Toyota fears slowdown in truck and SUV markets will hit sales

Toyota, the world's top-selling carmaker, is considering downgrading its US sales forecast to account for a worsening outlook for pick-up trucks and other big vehicles in its largest market.

The move by the Japanese company - best known for producing small and fuel-efficient cars alongside larger products such as the Tundra truck - underscores how quickly Americans are forsaking large vehicles, at a mounting cost to carmakers.
