Banks urged to help small business

The high street banks will on Thursday be summoned before ministers and urged to show greater “discretion and sensitivity” in dealing with small companies, Lord Mandelson, the business secretary, told MPs on Tuesday.

The measure was in a package unveiled on Tuesday by the government designed to mitigate the impact of the looming recession on small business.
