The success of the iPhone has shown other manufacturers the power of touch-driven interfaces. But Apple is by no means alone in developing touch-driven devices. Computer maker HP launched its first touch-screen desktop PCs in 2006*.
HP has produced several versions of its TouchSmart range since, and the machines have generally been well-received. But although the touch interface provides a pleasant way to navigate through HP’s various entertainment and media applications on the desktop versions, a touch interface really comes into its own on a portable computer.
