GM eyes quick Opel stake sale

General Motors aims to choose a preferred partner for its European Opel/Vauxhall operations by the end of May, its chief executive Fritz Henderson said on Monday.

But Mr Henderson said that it was “more probable” that the company would file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection by a US government-set June 1 deadline, and did not rule out the possibility that some of its overseas operations might follow it into bankruptcy.
