Banks push sale of long-dated gilts

Banks are to launch a charm offensive to sell government bonds to help tackle the UK's growing debt mountain, writes David Oakley .

Four banks were named by the government yesterday to find investors willing to buy long-dated gilts amid rising worries over the government's ability to sell its debt because of political turmoil and concerns over the country's creditworthiness.
