Asia markets bounce back on rate cut hopes

Asia Pacific shares bounced back from October’s big losses on Monday with a good start to the new trading month thanks to India’s cut in interest rates, speculation that Australia would follow suit on Tuesday, and South Korea’s plans to pump an extra $11bn into its economy next year to help avert a recession.

Financial shares made some of the biggest gains as there seemed to be more scope for central banks to cut interest rates.
