The name Wellstream may be unfamiliar to many investors, but in its dynamic sector this newcomer to the main market is a heavyweight, with 26 per cent of the global offshore flexible pipe market.

Following an initial public offering late last month, Wellstream has seen its market capitalisation rise from £318m to about £390m. On this basis, an entry next month into the FTSE 350 index looks probable.
