Intel renews effort to enter mobile phones

Intel, the world's largest semiconductor producer, renewed its efforts to gain a foothold in the mobile phone industry on Tuesday, announcing a co-operation deal with Nokia, the Finnish handset supplier, and Symbian, a UK software group.

The three will work together in the development of more advanced handsets known as ?smartphones?, which offer many of the functions available on handheld computers.
