Hedge funds driving stock collapse

Hedge funds forced to sell off equities have driven the collapse in equity markets in recent months, with the stocks in which hedge funds hold the largest stakes massively underperforming the wider market.

The revelation comes amid fears that hedge funds will need to sell hundreds of billions of dollars worth of equities in the fourth quarter as thousands of investors, particularly wealthy individuals, have thrown in the towel and demanded their money back.
