The mere mention of the word fluorescent is probably enough to strike fear into the heart of anybody who grew up in the 1980s rave era in the UK, when there was a fondness for tacky luminous lights. But fear not, modern designs have now taken luminous lighting to another level and this time it suits contemporary houses.

The Sand Box “luminous” table, as featured on www.thecoolhunter.co.uk, incorporates lighting into furniture’s design and construction, rather than seeing it as something separate. A stylish addition to any living room, the table glows – using phosphorescence – in proportion to the ambient lighting in the room, so the darker the space, the more intense the glow.
