BP will soon have a new chairman. The search for a successor for Peter Sutherland, which began in 2007, will be finished within weeks, Tony Hayward, the company’s chief executive, said on Wednesday.
Under Mr Sutherland, who has led the company since 1997, BP has grown from a “two pipeline company”, in the North Sea and Alaska, to a global business, through a series of ambitious acquisitions.
