Sarkozy calls for more accountable ECB

Nicolas Sarkozy, French president, is drawing up plans to boost the political accountability of the European Central Bank, underlining his determination to speak out about the conduct of monetary policy.

Mr Sarkozy has urged political leaders in the eurozone to debate more openly with the bank and is preparing a three-point plan to underpin the dialogue.
