Sigh of relief for fund managers

Fund managers allowed themselves a sigh of relief this week when the UK’s Investment Management Association said private investors had invested more than £1bn in retail funds in November.

It was the highest monthly net flow into unit trusts and open-ended investment companies for 18 months and lifted the mood of an often traumatic year for fund managers as private investors shun their products.
