IEA says demand for oil set to slow

World crude oil demand in 2008 will grow less than previously expected as the US economy slowdown and high oil prices damp consumption in industrialised countries, the western countries’ energy watchdog said on Wednesday.

But the International Energy Agency also warned that in spite of slower demand the global oil market has tightened, with crude oil and products inventories in industrialised countries falling to the lowest level since the autumn of 2004.
