Greece and Turkey unveil gas pipline

The Greek and Turkish prime ministers on Sunday inaugurated a €300m pipeline carrying the first natural gas from Azerbaijan to Europe as an alternative to Russian supplies.

Costas Karamanlis and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, meeting on a bridge that marks the Greek-Turkish border in Thrace, hailed the project as the start of a new period of bilateral co-operation.
