EU guarded on Turkey reform

The European Union has given a guarded welcome to the Turkish parliament's move to return properties confiscated by the state to their original owners, in many cases Christian and Jewish organisations.

Parliament voted on Wednesday to approve the returns as part of a reform of the law on foundations. But the reform is carefully limited, and does not allow for the return of confiscated properties that have since been sold to third parties.
