Killing pushes gun laws into spotlight

MPs last night spoke out against shoot-to-kill instructions issued to police, after the war on terror claimed the life of an innocent Brazilian man in south London.

As Charles Clarke, the home secretary, delayed his holiday to deal with the continuing crisis, MPs on the Commons home affairs select committee called for a clarification of the Metropolitan police's policy.
