Warburg to invest $115m in Webster

Warburg Pincus became the latest US private equity firm to put capital into the banking sector on Monday, revealing plans to invest $115m in Webster Financial, a Connecticut-based bank.

The deal represented something of a departure from other recent private equity investments in banks because Webster is considered a relatively healthy institution.
