UK leads on productivity

A cadre of successful British manufacturers has found a prescription for increasing productivity at a faster rate than many of their international rivals, according to two studies published today based on interviews with almost 600 companies.

Increasing the resources invested in designing and developing new products and handing more power to shop-floor workers to decide how to boost output has worked wonders for parts of the manufacturing sector, the research reveals.
