Vodafone investors cheer call for changes

The rebel shareholder demanding far-reaching change at Vodafone on Thursday won cheers from some of the company’s leading investors for sparking a debate on the management’s strategy.

Efficient Capital Structures, an activist shareholder backed by John Mayo, former deputy chief executive of Marconi, is pressing Vodafone for a new approach to its minority stake in Verizon Wireless, the second largest US mobile phone operator.
