Cool reception for Google micropayments

An offer by Google to manage micropayments, subscriptions and syndication for publishers looking to charge for news online has met with a wary reception.

The search engine operator argued last week that its Google Checkout online payment system could provide online news sites with the “simple payment model that is painless for users” that they would need in order for paid content models to succeed.
