Marshalls steps up initiatives to conserve cash

Marshalls will put parts of its 2,500-strong workforce on temporary layoff arrangements to conserve cash through the rest of the downturn, the stone and paving group said.

The Chelsea flower show sponsor said employee representatives had voted five-to-one in favour of the proposal, which would see affected staff given time off on 50 per cent of salary.
