IT going green: Data centre boasts of ‘Intel-powered heating’

Tom Raftery never has to worry about paying for hot water again. The more customers he wins, the more free hot water he has.

Odd as that sounds, Mr Raftery, a director at the Cork Internet Exchange, a big data centre in Ireland, is using the heat emitted by the servers to keep the building’s radiators and water hot.
