Mead sweetens listings mood

Mead Johnson, the world’s largest maker of baby milk formula, staged the first US initial public offering of the year on Wednesday as the environment for raising capital showed signs of improving.

The spin-off from Bristol-Myers Squibb, which raised $720m, pricing at the top of its range and selling more shares than expected, is the largest of five flotations expected in the US this week, a flood by recent standards.
