A grenade explosion in the Moldovan capital Chisinau injured as many as 40 people on Wednesday evening, prompting concerns that the formation of a new government may not bring an end to months of political turmoil that began with contested elections in the spring.

The blast occurred in the city’s main square during a concert commemorating the city’s founding, which was attended by some 3,500 young people.
