Adelphia offers $725m SEC settlement

Adelphia Communications, the bankrupt US cable operator, on Thursday offered to pay $725m to settle federal fraud investigations, potentially removing an obstacle to the company's efforts to exit bankruptcy.

In a regulatory filing, the Colorado based company said it had offered the money to settle a Securities and Exchange Commission civil action against the group and Department of Justice investigations.
