Vodafone on Thursday unveiled a £1.4bn ($2.2bn) deal that will see it take control of Vodacom, South Africa’s largest mobile phone operator.

The world’s largest mobile operator by revenue is expected to use Vodacom to expand further into Africa, as it looks to emerging markets for growth.
