EU energy trade has ‘serious faults’

The European Commission has discovered “serious problems” in the functioning of Europe's energy markets and threatened action against any companies found to be acting in an anti-competitive manner.

“Responses from the energy industry and customers confirm that European energy markets are not yet functioning on a competitive basis,” states a draft announcement by the EC, due to be released on Tuesday.
