Chrysalis Group on Tuesday said it had rejected a firm cash offer of £133m or 155p-a-share for the company, and said it had placed its non-publishing businesses and assets under review, which could lead to a sale.

The UK media group, declined to name the bidder, but people with knowledge of the deal said it was EMI, the rival music publisher, that is owned by Guy Hands’ Terra Firma private equity group.
