Obama ‘wasted’ reform chances

Barack Obama’s administration has “wasted” an opportunity to overhaul the financial regulatory system, according to Nicholas Brady, the former US Treasury secretary.

Mr Brady, who conducted the review into the causes of the 1987 stock market crash for the Ronald ­Reagan administration before becoming George H. W. Bush’s Treasury secretary, criticised Mr Obama for allegedly rushing the consultation process that led up to the white paper on regulatory reform this month.
