Thailand’s agitated foreign business community urged the military-installed government on Monday to re-think controversial revisions to the country’s foreign investment laws, saying it was “gravely concerned” about how the proposed changes could affect both existing and future investors.
However, Krik-krai Jirapaet, the Commerce Minister, dismissed the plea, saying the Cabinet would take up the issue on Tuesday, despite the objections of both foreign business groups, and Thailand’s main trading partners. He also rebuffed the foreign business community for publicly speaking out.
