Indonesia president intervenes in graft case

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the Indonesian president, on Monday intervened in a fight between the national police and the powerful anti-corruption agency recommending that a prosecution against two agency directors be dropped.

In a televised address Mr Yudhoyono said he wanted the police to drop a case of alleged corruption against Chandra Hamzah and Bibit Samad Rianto, although he stopped short of instructing them to do so.
