Judicial systems beset by corruption, says TI

Sweeping reforms are needed to judicial systems around the world to tackle widespread corruption among judges and other legal officials, according to a new report by Transparency International, the anti-corruption watchdog.

Changes recommended by the Berlin-based campaign group include the creation of independent appointment procedures to check selection processes for judges; the provision of salaries that accurately reflect professional experience and performance; and judges being provided with limited immunity for actions related to judicial duties.
