No need to dismiss defined contributions

Defined contribution pension schemes do not always get much attention from trustees with responsibility for both defined benefit and DC arrangements. But with DC occupational pension ar­rangements on the up, the pensions regulator has called time on old attitudes.

Marc Hommel, pensions partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, says as well as employers and trustees focusing on their legacy DB issues and neglecting DC, some employers confuse DC with an opportunity to outsource all responsibilities.
