Warning on business role in German government

Germany’s independent auditing watchdog has criticised the government for allowing hundreds of business executives to work in government ministries, pointing to a “high risk of conflicts of interest”.

In the internal report, obtained by the Financial Times, the Bundesrechnungshof, or federal audit commission, says too many of the executives were able to draft laws or take senior ministerial jobs, even though they remained on the payroll of their companies.
