Fire union censures firm on control room plan

PA Consulting, the private consultancy firm responsible for losing the details of nearly 130,000 prisoners and offenders, is at the heart of a row over the cost of a programme to close fire control rooms across the UK.

The Fire Brigades Union will today warn that a £360m fire service technology programme is already over budget and is likely to cost even more once it is completed in 2011 - four years late.
