IN&M sells €22m Indian newspaper stake

Independent News & Media has raised €22m selling part of its investment in an Indian newspaper group as part of asset sales to repay a €200m bond.

The Dublin-based company, which owns the loss-making UK titles The Independent and The Independent on Sunday, said it had sold about 7.3 per cent of Jagran Prakashan on the Bombay stock exchange, but retained a 13 per cent stake in the publisher.
