Box office flops hit Disney

A weaker than expected performance by its films at the box office took a bite out of Walt Disney’s second-quarter profits, with earnings also hit by a decline in spending at its theme parks.

Operating income at Disney’s studio business fell 97 per cent to $13m, with DVD sales of titles including Beverly Hills Chihuahua and Bolt faring poorly compared with films released in the same quarter last year.
