Human cloning research took another step forward when US scientists reported the production of three embryos cloned from adult skin cells.

These are not the first cloned human embryos. Although the extravagant claims of Hwang Woo-suk in South Korea turned out to be fraudulent, scientists at Newcastle University in the UK definitely produced one cloned embryo in 2006 and there have been other, less conclusive reports in the scientific literature.
