NHS chief welcomes improvements but urges action on 'hidden waits'

Waiting times and the numbers waiting for treatment are falling steadily with the National Health Service demonstrating "sustained improvement", Sir Nigel Crisp, the NHS chief executive said yesterday.

But he acknowledged that more needed to be done to cut the "hidden waits" for diagnosis.
