Drugs-pricing deal targets postcode lottery

Patients’ groups could “name and shame” National Health Service primary care trusts that fail to prescribe ground-breaking but costly new drugs under a draft pricing contract agreed on Wednesday be­tween the pharmaceutical industry and government.

The agreement allows for data to be released showing different rates at which in­novative medicines are prescribed around the country.
