Every spring for 15 years I have spent a week with wife and daughters in a satisfyingly old-fashioned English seaside village where even mobile phone coverage is patchy.
This year we took a portable DVD player (and an entire series of 24 in case it rained). I spent a little time working how to run our little DVD player through the TV in the flat but gave up because its modern seven-inch screen was far clearer and sharper than its much larger cathode ray tube ancestor.
