IBM tries to allay Chinese deal fears

IBM is trying to overcome US security concerns raised by the purchase of the company's personal computer division by Lenovo, a Chinese PC maker.

The two companies are trying to persuade the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS), a government body that reviews foreign takeovers of US companies, that modest security measures can prevent the deal from transferring any national security technology or knowledge to the Chinese government, according to people close to the negotiations.
