Fresh delay in auction of 3G licences in India

India’s auction of third-generation (3G) telecommunications services faced fresh delays on Friday after its finance ministry recommended doubling the base price of the sale.

The auction of pan-India 3G spectrum licences had been planned for January 30, with the government setting a reserve price of rupees 20.2bn ($412m) for nationwide 3G spectrum, and rupees 11.1bn for broadband wireless radiowaves.
