Palin takes fight to Obama

Sarah Palin, the presumptive Republican vice-presidential nominee, mocked the “permanent political establishment”, blasted restrictions on oil drilling and aimed her fire at Democratic nominee Barack Obama in a defiant speech to the Republican Convention in St Paul on Wednesday night.

Shortly after her speech, the delegates at the Convention cast their votes for Mr McCain, formally giving him the Republican party’s presidential nomination for the November election.
