Medvedev takes tough line on global security

Dmitry Medvedev used his first presidential visit to the west to take a tough line on international security, but signalled a more liberal approach on domestic policy.

Speaking in Berlin, the Russian leader warned Nato that further expansion into eastern Europe would be “very damaging” to Moscow’s relations with the west, maintaining the tough line pursued by his predecessor, Vladimir Putin.
