Low commodity prices hit emerging market funds

Investors are switching out of emerging market equity funds because of the sell-off in commodities and rising interest rates in many of these economies.

Emerging market equity funds saw redemptions of $1.9bn last week – the biggest outflow in five weeks – as investors took fright because many developing economies rely heavily on commodities.
