Annan chides G8 on aid to Africa

Kofi Annan on Tuesday criticised the G8 group of rich nations for allowing their development aid to “slip down” below agreed targets, warning that “strong measures” were needed to ensure international promises to Africa were kept.

Speaking to the Financial Times at the launch in Berlin of one his first initiatives since stepping down last year as United Nations secretary general, the former United Nations secretary-general said Germany should take the lead in increasing development aid.
