Iberia chief steps down amid BA merger talks

Fernando Conte on Thursday resigned as chairman and chief executive of Iberia, pre-empting by at least six months his planned retirement from the Spanish flag-carrier.

The surprise move comes amid complex merger negotiations with British Airways, which started about a year ago.
